Drink Beer!

Thursday 18 July 2019

Hi, Beer Lovers, Nips The new editor of Norfolk Nips, Lucy, has asked for content to be sent to her by 2nd August for the autumn edition. The email address is ku.gro.spinklofron@rotide. Contact Lucy if you wish to discuss ideas or the format of articles. I am keen to write an article about the top scoring beer pubs in West Norfolk as a response to the article in the last issue. Lucy would like some pictures of the pubs involved, possibly with someone drinking a pint. If you have anything suitable that you wouldn’t mind seeing in print, send it to me. Not sure which pubs will be featured, as I will make it as current as possible. Beer Although we don’t run a Beer Festivals as a branch, there are a couple coming up that might be of interest. The 22nd Kings Lynn Beer Festival organised by the Stuart House Hotel will take place on 25th, 26th and 27th July 2019. See https://www.stuarthousehotel.co.uk/events/beer-festival for full details. We are intending going along around 4.00 on Friday for an hour or two before heading off for food. You are very welcome to join us. Across the county, the Larling Angel Beer Festival has been going even longer. The 25th incarnation will take place on Thursday 1st Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd August 2019. See https://www.angel-larling.co.uk/events/summer-beer-festival/ for full details. If anyone has details of other local festivals I am happy to include them in future emails. Events Our next branch event will be part one of our bottled beer judging to be held at our house on Monday 29th July (correct date this time I hope). If you wish to be added to the list of those who have reserved a place please contact me. The next Branch meeting will be at the Stag at West Acre (Low Rd, West Acre, King's Lynn PE32 1TR), starting at 8.00. It would be great to see you there. News The planning application for the change of use for the Woolpack in Kings Lynn has been withdrawn. Stan has passed on a message from the Crown at Northwold ‘Thought you might be interested in the re-opening of the Crown at Northwold on Sat 20th July. We will have real ales, IPA, Abbotts, Ghost Ship and a new one called Yard bird. If none of these take your fancy, they aren’t set in stone and we may have something else you like, we can vary what we have every fortnight if needs be. Hope to see you on the 20th July or soon after. Many Thanks Janice’ Breaking News Stonegate Pub Company has today (18 July) agreed to buy pubco Ei Group for £1.27bn, which will see the operator’s estate rise by 4,000 sites, making Stonegate the UK’s largest pub owner.
