Campaign for Real Ale
Tuesday 26 December 2023

Latest from the Crown and Anchor in St Germans is that it was due to open last Thursday, but they have experienced some problems and we understand that that December 29th is the new target date.

The Ostrich at Castle Acre is to close at the end of the year. Greene King are looking for new tenants, ideally a "food-led" operator who can take advantage of events and knows how to "maximize community offers". Lee Jarvis of Greene King was reported in the EDP as saying "The pub has a great reputation and sits nicely in this semi-affluent village. The perfect set-up would be a management couple with both front and back of house experience, that know Norfolk well and have experience in letting rooms and food. Local knowledge is key in the low season and experience of letting rooms will also be a major benefit.".

The Ship at Brancaster has received permission for a new outdoor bar which is intended to provide an affordable alternative to the seafood which is so common in North Norfolk. It is envisaged that rotisserie chicken will be the main offering.
