The Warehouse at Setchey is still closed after the fire, but it is hoped to start work on refurbishing the kitchen shortly. Meanwhile Beers of Europe and the antiques centre continue to trade as normal.
Anglia Country Inns have won the award for the Best Pub Employer at The Publican Awards. The White Horse and Jolly Sailors at Brancaster and White Horse at Holme are part of the group.
We have also been informed that the White Horse at Holme has opened a bakery in a stone barn next to the pub.
A couple of pubs on the fringes of our area have announced their reopening. The Crown at Colkirk, near Fakenham has been taken over by first time landlords Michelle Toon and Gareth Embling. Also reopening is the Rose and Crown at Thorney, on the old A47 between Lynn and Peterborough. The pub has been closed for almost three years. Brother and sister James and Lauren Trevor will operate the pub on behalf of L&J Hospitality.
The Eagle and the Gatehouse in Lynn have both recently undergone refurbishment and have reopened after a period of closure.
There is new management in the Swan in South Wootton
A new brewery has started at the Thomas Paine Hotel in Thetford. With the help of Brendan of Iceni Brewery, they have set up a nano brewery at the hotel. It was first located in a shed behind the hotel but this month it will move into the cellar at the hotel and will go on show viewed from above.

The Crown and Mitre in Lynn has been awarded an AA Rosette for culinary excellence, the only one in Lynn.
We have received news that The Nelson at Clenchwarton has reopened. The new landlord is Jack Green, who owns the Barn and the Beer Bus in Terrington.
We have also had reports that the Black Horse at Castle Rising has reopened.
Resist, the vegan kitchen that was on St James Street in Lynn is reopening in Gaywood. It will be licenced and is reported to be working with local independent breweries. -

West Norfolk Council have granted permission for the change of use of the Stuart House Hotel in King’s Lynn to be converted into 18 apartments, along with staff flat, consultation room and community area.
The success of Lynn Brewery’s Ferry Bitter continues. Having been 4th in the National Champion Bottled Beer of Britain Competition in 2024, it is now a finalist in the East Anglia/East Central round of this year’s competition and has also won the title of Champion Bottle Conditioned Beer of Norfolk 2025 -

Permission has been granted for a change of use for the Jolly Brewers at Shouldham Thorpe which will become a private house. .
Another application has been made to turn the Blue Lion at North Pickenham into a residential property. .
The City Pub Group which includes the Hoste in Burnham Market, the Cliftonville in Cromer and the Georgian Townhouse in Norwich has been acquired by Young & Co.’s Brewery, P.L.C. -

New tenants have taken on the lease of the Necton Windmil and the pub re-opened on the 20th December. We wish them well. The Save the Windmill group has therefore stood down.
Another application has been made for a change of use for the White Hart at Foulden. Several have already been refused.
Pledges are being sought for people to buy shares in The Gatehouse in Norwich. Money towards a community buyout has already been raised from grants and a crowdfunding appeal. The target is £350,000.

The Crown & Anchor at St.Germans has re-opened. Some lovely renovation work has taken place in one side of the bar making it feel much bigger and spacious. They now sell Woodfordes beers..
Permission has been granted for a bakery and a coffee shop at the White Horse at Holme-next-the -Sea, now past of the Anglian Country Inns group. .
Also in North Norfolk, the Duck at Stanhoe now has a store stocking local meat, cheeses, chutneys and treats as well as fresh breads, pastries and essentials like milk and toiletries.
