    The ‘for sale’ sign at the Jolly Brewers at Shouldham Thorpe has been removed. A planning application has been filed for a change of use.

    The Coach and Horses in Dersingham has re-opened. It has been totally transformed, being light, bright and spacious. Luxurious seating and three beers on draught.

    Will Horne, late of Seasons in Wells, The Harper in Langham and 29 Bar and restaurant in Burnham Market has been appointed the new head chef at the Rose and Crown in Harpley, which was named Norfolk's top destination pub at the public-voted Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024.

    Congratulations to Jason from Lynn Brewery. His Ferry bitter was judged as the 4th best bottled beer in the country at an awards ceremony in London.. The winner was Five Kingdoms’ Dark Storm stout (6.9% ABV) from the Isle of Whitehorn in Scotland.

    The Coach and Horses in Dersingham is finally about to open. They have a new Facebook page with details of their menu and more besides.

    Planning permission for a change of use for the Blue Lion in North Pickenham has been refused for the second time.

    The Duck at Stanhoe now has a small shop on the premises.

    News has reached us that the Save The Windmill Steering Group, who are working to save the Windmill in Necton, have negotiated a price with the owner which means they can now move forward with raising money to purchase the freehold.     Star pubs are intending to spend a great deal of money on the Swan in Downham and are advertising for a landlord.

    Reports have come through that new owners are due to complete their purchase of the Crown and Anchor in St Germans around the 9th September 2024. The villagers who were campaigning to buy the pub are confident that the new owners can be successful and are winding down their plans to buy the pub.

    Downham Cider (https://www.downhamcider.com/) has relocated their cidery and distillery to a more spacious location outside Downham in Wormegay and should be operational soon.

    The Lestrange Hotel which includes the Mariners has been bought by the Chestnut group who now own 18 pubs and hotels throughout East Anglia.

    Nearby we have had reports that the Thornham Chequers which was being used as a hotel linked with the Lifeboat has reopened and is serving two locally sourced hand pumped beers

    The Barsham Brewery Tap is now open at West Barsham. Open on Friday and Saturday when they have pop up food and they are also open on Sunday until 6. Four of their beers are available on hand pump.

    An application for change of use has been filed for the Stuart House Hotel in Lynn , to convert it into a care home. The owner has been trying to sell it as a going concern for a couple of years without success.

    Meanwhile, in North Wootton, the House on the Green application for changes to the pub has been granted.

    The White Horse at Holme-next-the-Sea has reopened and has already been featured in several papers and magazines.

    Planning permission for a change of use for West Rudham Duke’s Head has been refused. Let’s hope that it can regain its former glory.

    The Ostrich in Castle Acre has re-opened as a free of tie pub. The new landlord has let us know that he is keeping it as a traditional village pub with changing cask ales and pub food. He will be putting on a beer festival in September.

    The Nest Restaurant and Farmhouse has opened at Docking Lodge Farm, while in Lynn, The Street on the High Street, once The Hogshead has closed suddenly, shortly after the closure of Purfleet Brasserie.
